School fundraising

Now that the Sibford School Appeal has run its course, a new Foundation has been set up as an ongoing fund-raising vehicle.

Launched to coincide with SOSA's centenary, the Foundation aims to “support, enhance and expand arrangements for the provision of education at Sibford School.

Why is it needed?

The Foundation has been set up to help provide funding for major projects and bursary assistance, such as:

  • provision of bursary assistance to pupils;
  • assisting in the funding of capital projects to upgrade, enhance or extend the school’s land or buildings including constructing new premises;
  • provision of installations, facilities or equipment;
  • provide funding for exceptional circumstances.

Also included is a caveat that money may not be used to replace normal school expenditure.

How do we support it?

Funds are expected to come from donations and legacies and, being charitable, any tax can be reclaimed.

There are a number of ways to support the Foundation:

  • make a donation, either direct to the School or through the Old Scholars Association;
  • do some fund raising or sponsored activity;
  • remember the school in your will. All legacies to charities are tax exempt and with more of us becoming liable for inheritance tax, if only because of the rising value of our homes, this way of remembering the school is becoming more attractive.

Old Scholar support is valued and welcomed by the school, and indeed our Association has given the Foundation a good start.

How to donate

Make your cheque out to 'Sibford School Foundation' and send it to Sibford School, Sibford Ferris, Banbury, Oxfordshire OX15 5QL.

Gift Aid

If you are a UK taxpayer, include a covering letter containing a statement like “I want the charity, Sibford School Foundation (Charity Register number 106825), to treat this donation of £… as a gift aid donation, and to reclaim the tax that I have already paid on it”.
